  • motor mount bolt nut size??

so I'm replacing my worn out motor mounts today with OEM ones. the passenger side was a biotch..but anyways.. I get the drivers side on and all I have to do is tighten the mount to the k-member.. hmmm, nut doesn't fit, it's too small. the thread sizes from pass to drivers side are freakin different. The drivers side is larger.

anyone know the nut size I need? I've been all over and looked in the garage..I have a 1/2" x 12mm and is the right phsyical size, but doesn't screw on so the threads are different. I've been to the parts stores, but they were closing.

part number is 2480 if I remember

Where did you source the motor munts?? just curious as mine are in DESPERATE NEED of replacement. lol

I'll be swapping mine in about a week..... good thing is the head and everything related to it is off the motor so jacking up the motor should be cake.

Oh sorry i don;t know the nut size...i assume the old hardware is whats not fitting correct?

they are oem rubber ones and are sold at most parts stores from what I found, but I got mine from Rockauto.com...great prices.

yeah, the stock nut doesn't fit the new motor mount. Before I could move the motor side to side with my hands quite a bit.

all those new motor mounts and no one knows the nut size?

        I've tried a 1/2x13, 5/8, M16x20

car's not going anywhere until I can find out what size it is.

I'll just have to remove it once again and during lunch tomorrow go down to the bolt supply place and have them match it up.

so I found another one in town and wow..it's the same bolt size so I can take it down and find the correct nut for it without removing the one on the car now. Then I'll just return it unused. It's strange that it's two for two and the same one everyone uses here, but no one knows the nut size.

Brian, there are only a handfull of people here that have the car memorized front to back, and they can't ALWAYS remember every thread size and pitch, so they would have to disassemble their car to get you the info you need?
Looks like you have it figured out now, so then you can spread the wealth when you find out the info and post it....

I hear ya. There are several OEM types available. this particular set are made by Anchor and part numbers 2480 and 2481.

if I can get off work early enough I'll try and get it done, but I work too damn far away.

i found for my motor mounts it was 2 different sizes. one was a M12x1.75 pitch and the larger one was a M14x2.00 pitch..

hope this helps for future reference.

I feel your pain. I installed a set of ChuckW polly motormounts and the rattles are horrible.

I'll be going back to rubber.
